Since
Bulgarian Youth Forum was quite new being a hosting EVS organisation, (even if we
were a sending one for a long time), the PBA “Quality EVS for Inclusion” expanded our understanding on the topic what means
to provide good conditions for the EVS volunteers, how to help them cope with
their routine tasks, as well as how to make their volunteering experience
abroad most beneficial and help them feel part of the receiving organisation
and the local society. The PBA dealt with a lot of interesting and useful
topics, concerning volunteering and the other fields of our NGO-s’ work. We
managed to establish a strong network of partners, which hopefully will last
for a long time in the future.
After
coming back to Sofia, with our present volunteers, we decided to organize a few
events for the young people in Sofia and the areas near our city, in order to
promote volunteering and European Voluntary Service, as well as the other
opportunities, provided for the youth, in the frame of Erasmus+ programme. We
visited some schools in the capital and in the country and had the chance to
share our ideas with the students there. Moreover, we hope that we provoked
their desire to go out of their comfort zone, to risk and to dare do something
different in their life, something that will be useful for the society, as well
as for themselves. We also had our 4th cycle of free trainings for
young people in the office of our organisation and there our volunteers shared
their experience, told their own stories, motivating the participants to be a
part of the EVS programme.
We know
that even if we just made them think about this opportunity with our words, it
is a step, which takes them closer ahead to becoming volunteers or active and
responsible citizens of our society,
